Medical Qigong

Medical Qigong

Qigong is the skill of cultivating vital energy, or the ability to work with the electro-magnetic energy of the body.  The clinical aspect of Medical Qigong is the process by which a skilled and properly trained practitioner treats through directing or emitting Qi - purging, tonifying, and harmonizing  to achieve a holistic restoration of heath and balance.

The eldest therapeutic modality of Chinese Medicine, Medical Qigong treats the whole person, the branch and the root, symptoms and the cause of disease.  Non-invasive in application, Medical Qigong is a potent and efficacious therapy rooted in the diagnostics of Chinese Medicine and excels in treatment of singular, as well as complex medical issues. Medical Qigong is particularly effective as a response to chronic, debilitating, and autoimmune disorders that are often considered abstruse or resistant to conventional treatment methods.  Learn More About Qi/Qigong

Shiatsu

Shiatsu
A method of treatment using deep tissue pressure along the meridians and the acupressure / acupuncture points of the body.

Using deep tissue pressure along the meridians, shiatsu releases blockages and opens the flow of vitality and energy within the body.  It is a physical therapy that supports and strengthens the body's natural ability to heal and bring the various systems of the body back into balance. Shiatsu has a regulatory effect on the autonomic nervous system, improving organ function and reducing muscle tension.

After treatment, most people experience relief from their discomforts - relief from pain, increased flexibility, improved  mood, and a clear mind.  In addition to a general sense of improved well-being, people often find that deep restful sleep comes more easily and naturally.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture
Used to treat imbalances within the body, it is not scary or painful;  people report having a very relaxing experience.

One of the most well known modalities of Traditional Oriental Medicine is acupuncture. Utilizing fine needles to treat imbalances within the body, it is an incredibly effective therapy. In the West, acupuncture is best known for its effects in pain relief.  In practice, acupuncture is a diverse primary care  treatment, addressing many issues ranging from the physiological to the psychological.

Extraordinarily thin needles are placed at specific  points on meridians (pathways of Qi), chosen by the practitioner in accordance with their diagnosis of the patient. The stimulation of these points allows a well trained practitioner to release areas of blockage, increase energy to an area and to regulate the flow of Qi in the body's meridians.

A patient may experience sensations of warmth or heaviness at a point. Sometimes a patient will report feeling the movement of tingling or warmth down the length of a meridian. Most commonly, a feeling of deep relaxation is experienced during treatment.

Herbal Medicine

Traditional Chinese Medicine
Individualized, herbal prescriptions are formulated based on each patient's diagnosis.

Though the use of herbal medicine in China goes back millennium, it was the third-century classics, the Shang Han Lun and the Jin Gui Yao Lue, which truly set the precedent for the understanding of formulas in the practice of Chinese herbal medicine.

Herbal prescriptions are created in accordance with the classical understanding; skillfully formulated dependent on a patient’s presentation of disharmony, and then instituted in treatment accordingly.

All the herbs we use are extensively tested, come from reputable and traceable sources, contain no heavy metals or pesticides, and meet or surpass all GMP (good manufacturing practices) requirements.
